Hearst Castle

Hearst Castle, officially named "La Cuesta Encantada" (The Enchanted Hill), is a historic estate located in San Simeon, California. The estate was conceived by media magnate William Randolph Hearst and designed by architect Julia Morgan. Construction began in 1919 and continued until 1947. The property encompasses 165 rooms and 127 acres of gardens, terraces, pools, and walkways. Hearst Castle showcases a blend of architectural styles and houses an extensive collection of art and antiques from around the world. In 1957, the Hearst Corporation donated the property to the state of California, and it has since been operated as a museum open to the public.
