Micheltorena Stairs “Stair Candy”

These are LA’s famous “secret stairs”: a public hillside staircase painted with rainbow stripes and big red hearts, making it one of the most photogenic spots in Silver Lake. The staircase is about 204 steps and connects Sunset Blvd up into the neighborhood (toward Micheltorena St).

Best for photos: morning or golden hour (less harsh light + fewer people).

Parking: usually street parking along Sunset / nearby residential streets—be respectful and don’t block driveways.

It’s actually multiple “legs” of stairs with short street crossings between them—keep going uphill for the full experience.
