Borrego Springs Serpent Sculpture

The Borrego Springs Serpent Sculpture is a prominent feature among over 130 metal artworks in Galleta Meadows, Borrego Springs, California. Created by artist Ricardo Breceda between 2008 and 2012, these sculptures were commissioned by philanthropist Dennis Avery to enhance his private property with free public art. The 350-foot-long serpent, weaving through the desert sand, is particularly notable for its intricate design and massive scale.

Visitors can embark on a self-guided tour of the open-air gallery, exploring the diverse sculptures that include prehistoric creatures, historical figures, and imaginative designs. The desert backdrop offers unique photography opportunities, especially during sunrise and sunset. As the area is unfenced and open 24 hours, it's ideal for both daytime exploration and nighttime stargazing.
