Anza-Borrego Desert State Park

Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, established in 1933, is California's largest state park, encompassing over 585,930 acres across San Diego, Imperial, and Riverside counties. The park's name honors Spanish explorer Juan Bautista de Anza and the Spanish term "borrego," referring to the native bighorn sheep. The diverse landscape features desert vistas, rugged mountains, and unique geological formations.

Visitors can explore 500 miles of dirt roads and 110 miles of hiking trails, offering opportunities to discover wildflowers, cacti, palm groves, and wildlife such as bighorn sheep and golden eagles. The park is also designated as an International Dark Sky Park, making it ideal for stargazing.
