BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Los Angeles (located in Chino Hills, CA) is a traditional Hindu temple built according to ancient North Indian architectural guidelines (Shilpa Shastras). Inaugurated in December 2012, the mandir was constructed over a 20‑acre campus that includes a 91‑ft lotus-shaped pond, a cultural center, gymnasium, and classrooms. Approximately 900 volunteers contributed 1.3 million man hours, and the structure is built from 35,000 hand‑carved pieces of Italian marble and Indian pink sandstone. The temple is the world’s first earthquake‑proof mandir and is powered partly by a solar energy system.
