Wisdom Tree (Hollywood Hills)

This is one of LA’s most “secret local ritual” spots, a single pine perched on a ridge with big views over the city and Valley. People leave handwritten notes beneath it, so it feels part viewpoint, part mini shrine, part “LA hike culture.”

Sunrise or sunset for the best light and cooler temps.
Avoid midday heat—there’s not much shade on the climb.

A popular route to Wisdom Tree + Cahuenga Peak is about 3 miles with ~872 ft elevation gain (challenging/steep sections).
Longer loops that include Mount Lee / Hollywood Sign ridge can be around 4 miles and ~1,417 ft gain depending on route.

The usual approach is to park along Lake Hollywood Drive and walk to the trail start on/near Wonder View Drive (parking can be tricky—read signs and be respectful of residents).

Griffith Park trail info and restrictions are available at the Ranger Station, and a general rule shared by Griffith Observatory’s park info is that trails are closed at dusk.
