South Coast Botanic Garden

The South Coast Botanic Garden is an 87-acre public garden located on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, California. Established in 1961 on a former landfill, it now features over 200,000 plants representing approximately 2,000 species from around the world. Visitors can explore themed gardens such as the Japanese Garden, Fuchsia Garden, Children’s Garden, and the James J. White Rose Garden. A central man-made lake attracts various waterfowl, and more than 200 bird species have been recorded in the garden.

Cherry Blossoms at South Coast Botanic Garden
During spring (March-April), the cherry blossoms in the garden bloom, creating a breathtaking display of pink and white flowers. The Sakura Meadow and the Japanese Garden are the best spots to see these delicate blooms. The garden hosts special hanami-style events, where visitors can enjoy the beauty of the blossoms while taking photos or having a peaceful picnic. This seasonal attraction makes it a must-visit during springtime.
