Thousand Steps Beach (Laguna Beach)

Thousand Steps Beach, located in South Laguna Beach, California, is one of the area's largest beaches. Despite its name, the beach is accessed via approximately 218 steps, not a thousand. The stairway, originally installed in 1978, underwent extensive repairs and reopened in December 2021. The beach is renowned for its expansive sandy shoreline, dramatic cliffs, and a notable sea cave accessible during low tide.

Visitors can enjoy activities such as swimming, bodyboarding, bodysurfing, and skimboarding. Exploring the sea cave at the southern end of the beach is popular during low tide. Due to hazardous rip currents and large surf, it's advisable to consult lifeguards about current conditions.

Thousand Steps Beach is accessible year-round, with operating hours from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. The mild climate of Laguna Beach makes any season suitable for a visit.
