Heritage Square Museum

Heritage Square Museum is a living history museum located in the Montecito Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. Established in 1969 by concerned citizens and preservationists to save historic Victorian-era buildings from demolition, the museum preserves and interprets Southern California’s development from the mid‑19th to early 20th centuries. Its collection includes eight rescued historic buildings—such as the Hale House, the Perry Mansion, and the Octagon House—as well as period train and trolley cars that tell the story of Los Angeles’ architectural and cultural evolution.

Visitors can explore the beautifully restored historic structures, take guided tours that share stories of early Los Angeles life, enjoy self-guided walks through the landscaped grounds, attend special events, participate in educational programs, picnic on the lawns, and visit the museum shop.
