Roundhouse Aquarium

🏗 Built in 1920
When the Manhattan Beach Pier was rebuilt using reinforced concrete in 1920, the round building at the very end was originally constructed as a refreshment stand and bait shop.

🐟 Became an Aquarium (1979)
In 1979, the building was transformed into a small public marine education center operated by the nonprofit Oceanographic Teaching Stations, Inc. (OTS).

Since becoming an aquarium, its focus has been on:

Over the years, the building has been renovated and updated while preserving its historic round structure — which earned it the nickname “Roundhouse.”
