Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook

This is one of the best “earn your view” spots in LA. You climb the steep staircase (the Culver City Steps) or take the winding dirt trail, and at the top you get wide views toward DTLA, the Santa Monica Mountains, and the basin, especially awesome at sunset.

Entry: Free
Parking: $2/hour or $6/day (pay machine; display receipt).
Park hours: Daily 8:00 AM to sunset

Parking: Main lot near the top/visitor center: paid (rates above).
Street/area parking exists in surrounding streets, but follow signs and don’t block driveways

Stairs workout: the iconic straight-up staircase climb.
Trail option: a switchback dirt trail if you want less knee-punishment.
Views + photos: best near golden hour / sunset.

Best time to visit
Late afternoon → sunset for the best light and cooler temps.
Weekdays are less crowded; weekends can be packed.
