Hermosa Beach Pier

🏖 History
Hermosa Beach began developing in the early 1900s during Southern California’s seaside resort boom.
The first wooden pier was built in 1904 to attract visitors and real estate buyers. Like many early piers, it supported fishing, strolling, and classic coastal leisure.
But wood + ocean = trouble.

🔥 Destroyed & Rebuilt
The original pier was damaged by storms and eventually torn down.
A second wooden pier followed — and suffered the same fate.
In 1914, the city constructed the current concrete pier, specifically designed to withstand heavy surf and time.
That 1914 structure still stands today — making it over 110 years old.

🌊 What It Feels Like
This is pure SoCal beach day energy — a long pier walk, nonstop ocean views, surfers carving waves, beach volleyball in the sand, and the lively Hermosa Pier Plaza right at the entrance.
It’s one of the easiest places in LA County to get that classic beach-pier experience fast.
