Solvang Village

Solvang, meaning "sunny field" in Danish, is a city in Santa Barbara County, California, established in 1911 by Danish-American educators on 9,000 acres surrounding Old Mission Santa Inés. The founders aimed to create a Danish community far from harsh Midwestern winters. The town features Danish-style architecture, including thatched roofs, windmills, and traditional craftsmanship, reflecting its rich cultural heritage. Over time, Solvang has become a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors with its unique blend of Danish culture and Californian charm.
